Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights are essential for the wellbeing, dignity, and future of young people. However, many urban refugee youth face barriers such as misinformation, stigma, violence, discrimination, and limited access to health services. YOTTCO’s SRHR program is designed to bridge this gap by providing accurate information, awareness, counseling, and linkages to youth friendly health services.
Through a current project supported by Hivos, YOTTCO is implementing the “Promotion of Healthier Lifestyles for Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights of Urban Youth Refugees in Uganda” in Makindye Division. The project targets adolescents and youth aged 10 to 24 years, using physical activities and community engagement platforms to reach young people in a safe, interactive, and empowering way.
The goal is to ensure that refugee youth are able to freely exercise their informed SRHR choices without coercion, violence, discrimination, or abuse. By combining empowerment activities, awareness creation, and supportive environments, the program is helping youth gain knowledge, confidence, and protection over their health and wellbeing.
This initiative continues to make significant impact in promoting healthier lifestyles and stronger, more informed youth communities.
